![]() ![]() While we were affected by the endless loading screen, we did not experience the endless updates screen. ![]() Fortunately, both of these issues seem to be relatively random. Hopefully, Xbox Game Studios and Asobo Studios will update MSFS to resolve this aggressively long wait times to play the game, but for now players may have to wait upwards of 30 minutes to get past this screen (or the endless loading bar). Just like the endless loading bar below, it seems players may need to wait this one out. Some players are reporting that this screen never progresses and that they're unable to make it past. Because of this, Microsoft Flight Simulator will always automatically check for updates whenever you start the game. Microsoft Flight Simulator is a massive game, and it has countless add-ons and additional installations (over 200 right from the start!) that can all be updated independently of the main game. Quick fix / workaround: Unfortunately, there is no easy fix for this issue other than simply waiting (between 5 and 30 minutes) Summary: Microsoft Flight Simulator always checks for updates at launch, and many players are experiencing extremely long waits Installing the day one update does not affect the total install size of the game. On the other hand, if you've elected to remove the "offline mode" pack for Microsoft Flight Simulator to bring your total install size to around 42 GB, the update should be about 18 GB. If you have the full MSFS downloaded (coming out to about 102 GB), the day one update should be around 27 GB. In the cases we've seen the reason behind this is because, even if you preloaded or preinstalled Microsoft Flight Simulator on your Xbox, there's still a sizeable day one update to install before you're able to play MSFS.īefore you try and play Microsoft Flight Simulator, be sure to check for updates on your Xbox to see if you've downloaded the day one update. Can’t wait to see how many more are needed when the game finally does load. Some players are reporting that, even after Microsoft Flight Simulator officially launched on Xbox, they are unable to start the game. My 50Mbps connection meets the “ideal” requirement for the game, and all my other uses, so I don’t feel internet speed is what is creating such an undesirable user experience.Īnd yes, this was all posted while updating. There’s got to be a better way to get updates to the users. I know planning, runup, and taxi will eat into a chunk of that time, but it’s no stretch to say at least 25% of my time in game is spent just waiting to play it, and since I purchased from Steam, I’m locked out of any other title while it does so. I have 200 hours in game, and just over 100 in the air. By the time the sim is ready, I’ve forgotten what I wanted to do or see, or simply gone to do something else (not in MSFS). ![]() By the time it’s all said and done, I’ve spent sometimes almost two hours getting ready to fly a half hour GA flight. It seems every time I want to fly (which isn’t too much as I’m still waiting for the quality of the IFR experience to improve) I have to sit through five plus gigabytes of downloads, plus manually updating the content manager page. dont download when -custom- app is open” stuff like that.Ĭan we get a way to have the game client update the packages when the computer is idle? Can there be a MSFS updater utility that can run in the background? dont download when a video streaming website is open in a browser. dont download when ableton live or premiere is running. “dont download when another game is running. and you should be able to see DL speed, game statistics, self throttling for updates, and self throttling for game content streaming (slower internets who have multiple users might want to only use half of their 50mbps internet instead of the whole thing, without using a 3rd party app throttling app) - also, it would be nice if you could schedule when the standalone program downloads, and create rules. ![]() The standalone program should sync it’s download/instal settings with the main game. It’ll be great for those who have slow internet and dont want to leave flight sim running, using high CPU (which might be needed for other things) just to download 5GB of (hopefully) fixed content. but it should be it’s own, very lightweight program that automatically takes care of updates. and this auto updater should be optional. Of course it would be nice to still show what has been updated. ![]()
